Auswide Automated Urinal System
If we were to take an example where 200 male students use the urinal on average of 1.5 times per day each and the urinal was flushed by 50% of the users. A cistern with a capacity of 9 litres is connected to the urinal then 1,350 litres of potable water would be used per day. The “Auswide” System, once installed, will reduce that water consumption to just 24 litres per day (120ml per user) or 98%. A saving of 264,000 litres per year.

With a standard daily cleaning schedule the system will remain clean, fresh and odour free.
The system does not require any chemicals, bleach or hot water for cleaning, which is in fact detrimental to the system, but also eliminates most blockages that normally occur from time to time with other more conventional systems.

Consumables / parts / Cleaning & Replacement

Urinal Cartridge
Manufactured by Whiffaway, these cartirdges are retrofitted into the existing urinal and suit the majority of urinals of the market. Once installed the flushing system is replaced with an automated flushing system which causes the major reduction in water usage. This however does not result in a build up of smells as the cartridge breaks down the uric acid which causes the smells. The cartridges last for approximately 13 weeks before they need replacing.

Biocidal Concentrate
This fluid is used to clean the urinal as it does not interfere with the Cartridges ability to breakdown uric acid like conventional detergents.

Sample Installations
The Automated control system consists of a Whiffaway Urinal Cartridge, Electronic Timer and a Solenoid Valve. These are retrofitted onto the existing hardware, and can be applied to trough and wall mounted urinals. These are not pure waterless urinals but nonetheless provide a significant saving in water consumption. The timers can be set to using as little as 4L of water per day.
